Great questions! I’ve played a few networked (online multiplayer) games and here are my thoughts:

For me, they’re a mix of both — entertainment and a potential trap if you don’t stay mindful. Some things I’ve noticed:
• Social connection: It’s fun competing or cooperating with people from different places. It adds unpredictability and human interaction you don’t get in single-player games.
• Motivation and progression: Many online games reward daily play, achievements, and rankings. That can keep you coming back.
• Risk of overuse: Because of that same motivation system, it’s easy to lose track of time and play more than you planned.
• Favorite types: I prefer strategy/multiplayer games — ones that reward planning and teamwork, not only reflexes.
